[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My only trip to Seoul in 2005 was armed with nothing except 1 MP point-shoot camera with 8mb memory (gift from a bank) and without a good knowledge of photography which I have since acquired from TLers here. Here is a landscape shot.

The only country with a land border to South Korea is North Korea, lying to the north with 238 km of border running along the DMZ. South Korea is mostly surrounded by water and has 2,413 km of coast line along three seas. To the west, is the Yellow Sea, to the south is the East China Sea, and to the east is the Sea of Japan (East Sea).

Early visitors to Korea remarked that the land resembled "a sea in a heavy gale" because of the large number of successive mountain ranges that crisscross the peninsula. The tallest mountains are in North Korea. The tallest mountain in South Korea is Hallasan (1,950 meters), which is the cone of a volcanic formation constituting Jeju Island. There are three major mountain ranges within South Korea: the Taebaek Mountains, and Sobaek ranges, and the Jiri Massif.

Unlike Japan or the northern provinces of China, the Korean Peninsula is geologically stable. There are no active volcanoes and there have been no strong earthquakes. Historical records, however, describe volcanic activity on Mount Halla during the Goryeo Dynasty (918–1392 AD). (from wiki)

Despite the washed out sky (over which we never have control:)), this is a most attractive shot. I love the textures and colours in this lovely landscape. Looks a fabulous place for a visit
P.S. Fun to have you as a downstairs neighbour in the gallery -- and just amazing to see shots from opposite sides of the world together like that

Hello Bill.
Beautiful picture of this gorgeous shorescape in South Korea.
Your 'simple' camera, did a very good job.
I bought my first Digital 1 mb in 1999. Have some nice shots of it aswell.
I will safe this picture and show it one day to my cousins, Dennis, Angela and Shirley. They are from South Korea by birth.
Now they are grown up, they have visit there motherland a few times, but feel themself very Dutch.
Best regards from Jan

Hi Bill,
Your compositional skills are quite evident here even with 1 MP point-shoot camera. Lovely colors, contast, and texture. Have a good weekend.

Hi Bill
Nice capture. The camera doesn't really matter as it's well balanced and the details are sharp and well colored

Hi Bill,

For a 1MB point and shooter, this is not a bad shot. The colour is a little washed out in my opinion and the sky is a little dull. But in terms of composition it is good. I guess it would be unfair of me to compare it with your recent works using your DSLR. But this photo still works for me.

Hi Bill,

it's very picturesque indeed with a humble P&S camera. not a bad shot at all with almost everything is well seen here. a blue sky would certainly make this image much lovelier.

Hi Bill.

Hi Bill,
Very interesting formation. The dark green waters go well with the foliage. Maybe you could have tried to add some light shade of blue to the sky? Just my opinion.

Just marking and I'll be back. Regards, Jusni
