Hi TL folks!

One's visit to the City of Davao is not complete without dropping by on the Garden City of Samal or simply called Samal Island, a few minutes by boat from the main city. Samal Island is a tropical paradise boasting its own white beaches and other attractions to the ones with adventure on their veins.

This was taken on one of the rocky beaches i ventured into one afternoon, beach-combing with a camera in hand. I came into this huge starfish ( as big as a mans head) into the knee deep water at low tide. I decided to "borrow" out of the water for a while placing it into a rock for a nice subject. So this becomes a staged shot. =D
I returned it to the water after though.

Thanks for the peek

Woooow!!! What a splendid shot! You've captured the clearness of the water very well!
My compliments!
Great sharpness on the rocks and the starfisch, but also the water, the clouds and the montains are sharp and beautiful!!
Much depth in this photo, the horizon at 2/3.
Super, Ian!
Thanks for sharing this photo!

ps I am glad you returned the starfish in to the water. So maybe I can see it some day....:)

Really nice Ian ... I love the huge wide angle view here ... of course the starfish is the star of the shot (no pun intended :) but including the ocean and the huge view, and the big sky is great also. Your placement of the starfish is great in my opinion. Fantastic work ..
Trudy

Very nice picture, good use of the high angle to catch this nice Starfish in the foreground. Very good composition, color settings and contrast. Just one point: the horizon is a little bit tilted and would need a rotation toward the left, but it's a very small detail here. :-)

Hi Ian,

This is a fantastic view on the beach even you have given a help at nature for your set up! :)
Superb wide angle and depth of field with this open perspective towards the cloudy horizon.
I adore the brightness of colors and the fine textures on the starfish and sand.
Superb image! Annie

Hi Ian,
A marvellous POV with an appropriate use of your wide angle lens.
Quite a considerable DOF all in accurate sharpness.
This giant starfish is placed in an adequate place to create this beautiful composition.
Very dramatic sky with great management in lighting.
Very neat work in this pleasant vertical format.
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

This picture is truly amazing!! I love the point of view and the focal point on the star fish! The water and the sky is great!!

Well done!

Christian

yah its looks a little staged, the fish looks almost 3-d which is kinda cool, all in all its a cool shot-well done
scott

Hello Ian

Staged or not. the low pov makes this image happen. Very well done. I think many a shot here is staged without our knowlege. Still this is top notch. Nice work

Jimmy
