Chris,
I like the details on the wood that you captured so well. Maybe you have a shot with the entire board .
Wish you a great weekend,
Cheers,

Ola Chris
Powerful iconography, and a strong connotation value.
Excellent sharpness an light, and a very good composition.
Great entry to the theme.
My compliments, mb
Hi Chris,
This is a nice addition to the theme with several connotations built right in. I imagine this carving was hand done by a Filipino man who lives very close to where it is displayed. The propensity towards artwork in the Phillipines is astounding - I have been there on a few occasions and found wonderful artwork in the most remote places.
The exposure on this carving is perfect. I like the contrast between the older wood on the building and the brown of the newer wood of the art. I do wish I could see the rest of the carving, but like the door, another connotation lets you see what it would look like without showing it.
Have a great weekend!

HI Chris,
A very sharp presentation of this piece of sculpture on wood!
I like the oriental aspect in it. Good light and a tremendous contrast with the old rotten door. Connotation is there for sure!
My regards,
Francis Xavier

Whether you cropped th wider angle photo ( WS ) into a stand-alone or not Chris i believe you were well intended in showing this singular sculpture for its multi-connotations represented in it . Indeed you are right about those in your notes , literally and figuratively , you have selected the perfect element of the whole scene to illustrate the idea for this theme , frankly speaking i am liking the WS's as much for showing more of the sculptor's pieces of art and the artist's workplace where he pursues his vocation and exibits his work , a cool take my friend,
Cheers,
Carol

Hi Chris,a fine sharp shot of a beautiful carving.
The brown polished wood contrasts with the bg of the weathered wood of the building.Love the little piece of orange string!
Good ideas expressed in your notes. It is interesting that the birds of prey have been adopted as symbols for several countries.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hi Chris,
Yes, this "bas relief" has a great connotation power. Symbolism is matter of connotation or evocation ...so, you are rightly in the theme with this photo.
I like the natural colors of wood and the contrast with the graphism of lines.

Dear Chris, I like your contribution and the note.... When I worked in Saudi Arabia, I had bought two wood carvings by an artist from the Philippians... they are so beautifully done, seeing this now I can call the Philipiens a country that have wood carving great talented artists.
I agree that you did not need to show the entire door.... TFS.... BTW My critiquing will be enabled tomorrow....
Best
