'spices' once more expensive than gold n diamond. so in demand that west european discovered north n south america while finding the route to india.

'abidin' must be scratching his head that how come he got shallow 'depth of field' with f6.3 where as mines sharp all across at f7.1

explanation:
a 35mm film camera or full frame format has 36x24mm dimension.

ur camera has a sensor size of 22.7x15.1mm so crop of 1.6 applies

so lets multiply ur focal length n aperture by 1.6
50mm x 1.6 = 80mm
f6.3 x 1.6 = f10

whereas my camera has a tiny sensor 7.6x5.7mm so crop of 4.55 applies according to 35mm(full frame format)
focal length 3610/100mm is 36.1 x 4.55 = 164.25mm
aperture is f7.1 x 4.55 = f32.3

room light from the front n a single hand-held flash was bounced manually against white chopping board (thats what was available at that time).

Hi Mehmood,

I always like those 'school' photo's. Put a name under the pictures and it's perfect to hang in any classroom!

Nice work

Alex

salam alekum mahmood :)

nice attempt at re-creating abidin's theme. neatly done.

i, however, disagree with you on the multiplication of the aperture, i.e. f/6.3 x 1.6...

my belief is that only the focal length gets multiplied, not the aperture. an f/2 lens for full frame will gather as much light as an f/2 lens on, say, four-thirds..

i think the case here with the depth of field is in the fact that abidin used a 50mm macro on his canon, which was already serving as an 80mm macro lens. i think it was not f/6.3, but rather the fact that abidin was focusing too closely..

if he had taken the same shot from a distance, at f/6.3 and then cropped later, then a lot of it would have been in focus...

i love disagreements and arguments :)
