[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The camels here are Bactrian, with 2 humps, rather than the one humped camels of North Africa, & West Asia. Taken at the Khongoryn Els, or 'Singing Sands' Dunes (visible at left on the horizon) in the south Gobi Desert. The dunes are so-named, because the wind whipping through the sand makes a plaintive sound. I liked the silhouettes here. Couldn't get any closer for a lower pov, as they kept moving away from me. Next time I'll bring superglue!

Hello Chris,

Beautiful composition with wonderful colors, lighting and subject.
Congratulations and TFS
Sergio

Hi Chris,

The humps on the camel provide continuity of symmetry and silhouette of the desert. Fantastic mood and colors, a special moment captured. Regards.

Hi Chris,

Now I know the answer, super glue! That'll keep the critters in place ;)

Fantastic silhouettes and sky colors. Excellent framing and good use of thirds.

TFS,
Werner

Chris,

This desert is on my list of places to visit. I like the way you composed with the sand dunes at the right hand side.

I think by bringing the entire shot, and not only the sky, to a strong red saturation, the foreground got a funny color.

Wish you a great week.

Hi Chris,
Very nice Gobi Desert Sunset with amazing silhouettes of the camels,
great tone of colors and details,
very well done.
compliments
Michel

Hello Chris,
What a great capture of not only the beautiful colors of the sunset, but of the mode of transportation as they rest for the night. You captured the lighting perfectly as the foreground is able to be seen and not darkened.
Try a cigar to bring those humped devils to you, but when you run out of cigars, run away as they tend to spit when aggravated. LoL...
Excellent image...
Steve

Hello Chris

What in earth would take you to such a country? So isolated and desolate. I like the tone and sihouettes of the camels. I bet Mongolia is very beauiful in it's own way. I would love to visit such a place, a place where the great Ghengis Kan called home. Thsnks for sharing your travels with us.

Jimmy
