[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
At first, I was going to crop the leaning sign at right entirely, but then decided otherwise, as the opened tin cans, thrown carelessly on the track, cut the feet of the camels & horses, used to shuttle less active tourists to & from Vulture's Beak Gorge (Yolyn Am) in the distance. So not just a landscape, but the added extra dimension of a human (and animal) interest story. Taken with a wide angled 28mm lens using a polarizing filter. I've already spent an hour dodging, burning, & correcting contrast, because of intense shadows thrown by the large white clouds. If anyone wants to try a workshop correcting perspective, feel free.

Hello, Chris -
Amazing capture of this rugged landscape. The details are very sharp (as usual) and the greens, blues and earthy tones are intense. You did a good job with the shadows and overall contrast; the edges of the white clouds are perhaps a touch OE but it's so minor and does not detract from the image. Nice work -

Hi Chris,

Excellent DOF and POV.
Very beautiful colors and perfect lighting.
Congratulations and TFS
Sergio

Hello Chris
Nice sharp capture, i like the vivid color, composition is good.
the idea of leaving the sign at right would have been better if it was more inside the frame (my personal opinion)

Hi Chris,

The colors really "pop" in this shot. An excellent POV along the valley, showing the diagonals and their intersections very well. The human interest aspect is important also. Generally we see no littering signs, but this is specific to tin cans. Unusual and interesting, at least for me ;)

Best regards,
Werner

Hi Chris - I like the sign, too. It would be an attractive landscape without it, but it does add some extra color and the human element.

I like the sign !
It's unusual and interesting, especially in this remote scene.
Superb colors and compo

thanks,
v

Bright vivid colors as always Chris. Love the way the eye is drawn down the trail into the depths of the shot. I like the inclusion of the sign .. it could be just a little further into the shot though .. seems a little squashed into the edge.
Is your winter giving way to spring yet?

Hi Chris,
Your hour of hard work has paid off wonderfully. I simply love the bold colours and the clarity. Good POV too.

Considering that you wanted to underline the unspoiled Mongolian nature with this shot, Chris, I think your PP-work made this landscape look too artificial. Especially the blue of the sky looks artificial to me: as if it had been pasted into the photo. However, I do not exclude that this "sky effect" is due to your PP-work on... the landscape, that might have created a kind of incompatibility between land and sky (perhaps in terms of luminosity).
Maybe a black & white conversion would make this highly contrasted picture look more "real" or "coherent", maybe... because this is, of course, only my personal opinion. So, feel free to (dis)agree ;o)
TFS & kind regards,
PS: the inclusion of the sign was a good idea, because it provides for a sense of scale and enhances your composition.

Hello,
Beautiful landscape!
Excellent POV, great DOF, lovely colors.

Hello Chris!

Pretty scenery and his formulation.
Splendid, alive colours and light.
Very pretty realization.
Congratulations!

With best wishes.

Hey the sign is there to stay ! Interesting to see such a prominently visible "no throwing of cans " sign on a narrow path leading to somewhere in the back o Bourque as you Australians say , we see those at intervals right by our highways but there hummm , it is a bit too near the edge though , like the colourful landscape here, June seems to be prime time for such a display of green , the rough path leads into the shot nicely making me wonder what there is to discover around the bend, , i don't know about your PP , perhaps it might have been more impactful to leave some shadows in the shot but as is it is delightfully lovely, Thanks for sharing Chris,
Carol

Hello Chris,
Nice vivid colors with great vibrancy, the path way and the sign is well placed with good awareness of preserving the natural beauty, the deep blue sky with white clouds are good contrast which plays a nice back drop, well captured and lovely presentation.

Hi Chris,

Wow, what a wonderful landscape from Mongolia!
I have seen this country through in some television documentaries but have never been to this beautiful land.

You have captured a lovely place with great sharpness and nice clarity. The sky adds great mood into the capture. A well balanced composition!

best greetings,
Paras

Hello Chris,
What beautiful scenery!
Exceptional play with some details and color top.
Yes you have chosen an outstanding POV, congratulations.
Friedly regards,

Hello Chris,

I think you've done a fine job with this.

I was curious as to why you had left the sign in this shot. Your notes give an interesting explanation and one which gives credence for its inclusion; although, a slight turn to right would have brought it a little more int the shot and not made it appear as squashed.
Your pov is well chosen with the path drawing the eye into the shot and disappearing at a point where all the hills converge.
A fine composition of triangles, nicely focussed and well saturated.

Have a good day,
Bev :-)
p.s. Thank you so much for the notes on Australia. I did reply but my email returned !

Awesome capture of this mountain and the very unusual sign, I hope the meaning of the sign is not lost to the people that hike the mountains. Wonderful colors and saturation. Sharp details. Well done, tfs.
