[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
one of the reasons most people travel is to meet other travellers. the folk you meet in a place can really affect how much you enjoy somewhere. so i wanted to post some photos of other travellers i've met this past year.

tobi, is from sweden. he was incredibly photogenic & always obliged me by looking suitably weird whenever i stuck the camera in his face (which was often). he's an aspiring writer & from what i've read of his, a really good one. the best thing about tobes was his ironic surname - fast. there was nothing quick about this guy...he excelled at slow. he's in laos now, on his way to china...if you see him, ask him why he had to set up a chinese bank account; it's a great story.

A great story Skye, and i agree he has a fantastic face, very photogenic and full of character. He has a look that says 'OK here she goes again, pokin that camera in my face', great stuff. Good note too!
Welcome to trek lens by the way.
Thanks for sharing.
Michael.

Hi and welcome to TL. Interesting note. Looks like an interesting character. There is something about the way he looks and dresses that tell you he is slow. Well captured.

This is such a nice portrait. This guy seems to be very funny. I really enjoyed your note! It's nice you managed to show the guys in the background too.
Regards
Nilton

Hey Skye!
very nice portrait shot to start off. I like his funny style and the backdrop is great! Well composed.. I enjoyed the note too..
Welcome!

Hi Skye,
Nice portrait. I really like how casual this is. And, how your friend was nice enough to always let you take his pic (I had a friend that was the exact opposite). I like the details in the background, like that man with one shoe on and their clothing and how it differs from your friends. Good shot. And, welcome to TL!
Richard

Hello Skye,

What a wonderfully interesting portrait of this interesting person. The whole compostion is interesting, but does not take focus away from Tobi. I really like the one shoe.

I like this portrait a lot! What a funny and weird character! He looks like a comedian! Beautiful shot, good sharpening and great composition! Well done! Michel

You can tell that he's quite a character, and the men in the background look interesting too!

Love all the interesting details and vivid colors here! It's a comfortable shot.

Gayle :)

wow! the glasses, the hat, the beard, that plaid shirt. i can tell this guy is really some character. shot against the natives in the background, the result is quite remarkable. one of the finer portraits i've seen in a while. natural and unpretentious. i like this one a lot. hope to see more of your encounters.

Very well done!
One of the better portraits I have seen here.
the exposure is spot on, composition is great!
The backgroung compliments the subject very well.
Thanks
matt

Skye, great story, and it goes along with the picture so well!! I love the lighting, and your character - we can feel immidiately that he's quite the character, which is awesome in a photo!

Where are you in China? Xingzhang?

...I must say I also like your title: Mafan, which means stupid/ridiculous in Chinese. Lovely choice of words! OOOOPPPPSSS just realised it's your nickname... **blush!!**
