Majianglong Village Cluster:

"Situated on the flatland on the eastern coast of Tanjiang River, the Majianglong Village Cluster is under the administration of Baihe township. It is composed of 5 villages: Yong'an & Nan'an villages of the Huang Family, and Qinglin, Hedong & Longjiang villages of the Guan Family. Yong'an Village was established during the Qianlong period (1736-1795) In the early years, it was known as 'Fengsuilang' which bears the symbolic meaning of 'good harvest every year'. They renamed the place Majianglong after 1949. A large number of the villagers have emigrated to the USA, Canada, Mexico & Australia. The 7 'Diaolou' (watchtowers) and the 8 villas in the villages were constructed in the early 20th century. In June 2001 the Majianglong 'Diaolou' was declared by the State Council as a protected Major National Cultural Heritage"

(Copied from a sign within the historic village) One of the watchtowers can be seen in the background. Taken late afternoon on a cloudy day. I would have liked more time exploring these villages. Very quiet & peaceful & not swarming with tour groups. Kaiping makes a good base to explore some of the many smaller towns & villages featuring 1,833 of these 'Diaolou'.

Hi Chris.

Impressive mix of flavours and shape.
The coloured clothes and lush green tree compliments the architectures of these buildings. Your sharpness to detail has brought out the brickwork to a fine level.
Grey sky, not a problem.

stv ;o))

Hi Chris,
Nice perspective with the pathway leading towards the old towering building in the BG.Good depth and well detailed.

Hello Chris, this place has the feeling of somewhere that has seen better days!
The main building in your shot is a puzzle....it has bars, and yet beautiful art work on the panels. And then, the rotary drier full of washing!
As Francis has suggested, we look forward to your shots of this fascinating country.
A good PoV, and excellent sharpness.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hi Chris,

The length of the street or alley is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing with precision the details and colors of the architectures of the buildings. The late afternoon light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Very nice capture of this architecture, too bad about the iron bars it's looking like a prison. But safety comes first. Good lighting and dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.

Hi Chris
nicely decorated houses in the village. well captured. good handling of light on a greyish day. the clothings and green tree are a fine addition of colors to the composition.

Interesting combination of beautiful architecture and the mundane washing line. Good to have you sharing again.

Hi Chris..nice shot...the vibrant colors stand out beautifully from the background.
