The view from one of the bridges in Huishan Ancient Town. I pushed saturation as far as I dared. (+65%) Also added a bit of colour to the white sky. Hope it still looks natural? Air pollution in China means white skies. Loved the perspective here. Lots of reconstruction going on all around the old town when I visited today.

Another view of the same canal a short time later.

This is a link to TrekEarth

'Built during 16th - 19th century A.D., the town is located in the north-west part of Wuxi on the west bank of the Grand Canal and at the foot of Mount Hui. The town's buildings are mainly family ancestral halls.'

Hi Chris:)
great fragment of that ancient city, very good perspective effect, saturation is OK sky is not perfect but yes - look natural and much better in water reflection.

Another nice lead in shot, the canal really gives it depth, whilst the reflections add a source of interest, as do the patterns of the steps. Nice warm colours in the stone. I think you have just about got away with the sky pp work (maybe missed a bit on the right side? it just looks brighter in one patch?) Looks like somewhere I would like to go to ...

Olá Chris
I like the perspectiand the interesting theme of your composition, I like the good reflections and the real aspect of your capture.
Um abraço

Hi Chris,

A nicely balanced shot, making good use of the symmetry of the scene. A couple of things come to mind concerning DOF here. It might have been better to increase ISO to 800 or so and use a smaller aperture to get the distant objects a bit sharper. The D90's in-camera noise reduction kicks in at ISO 800 by default and does a good job. Maybe f/8 or f/10? Not sure where your focus point was here, but I generally choose a spot about 1/3 of the way in to maximize overall sharpness. A lovely scene, TFS.

Hi Chris, This is a well composed image with proper lighting to show reflection in the water clearly and no harsh shadows... I like the lines & perspective ... TFS

Hi hris,
I like your approah to capture such landscape shot from this particular POV to produce this V-shaped composition.
Good light management despite this difficult situation. A superb reflection in the still mirror-like water.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

A wonderful play with mirror-reflections and the PP work is indeed awesome, Chris!

The blue sky adds wonderful beauty to the overall scene.
The sharpness and POV are excellent.
Good management of light as well.

Thanks and regards,

Hello Chris,
Extensive use of (probably) granite stone in Chinese architecture of this ancient city is looking fantastic. Stairs on both banks of the canal is an interesting feature of this style of construction. And you've beautifully composed this old location in fine details and good luminosity. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
Best Wishes,

Nice perspective indeed, with the water reflecting the trees.

This is nice Chris. I would not have seen that you colored the sky! My only suggestion would be to hit it with a BIT of the softening brush... just a little, to drop it back into the BG. LOVE the reflections here!

Hi Chris,
A nice one. Your PP does not intrude at all. The colors still look natural. As for the white sky, I had the same problem in India, the polution was unbelievable. Nice reflections in the water. I wish there were more people in the image to give it more "life".

I see 1 person...where's everybody? Awesome pov and sharp details. Wonderful colors. Very well done, tfs.

Hi Chris,
Excellent POV, Beautiful canal view with great reflections. Clear and sharp details. Well done.

Hi Chris,
Another beautiful architecture and perpective,
Excellent point of view and details,
a nice deep of field and reflection on water,
beautiful place and lovely trees..

I like the quiet streets that provide an atmosphere of tranquility and the reflections are nice. The increased saturation does not make the shot look unnatural. The colour of the stone is good.

Good morning Chris,

Beautiful structure that drives this view along the canal.
Well just the color of the sky and the trees started with ease. Location!
Not easy to make such a cliché.
Estimable work.
Thank you for sharing this part of the world particularly rich in architecture.
Well done beautiful day.

Kind regards.

Hi Chris,

Well composed and well balanced!
Excellent details with lovely reflection!
Nice depth, boating on such water ways is pleasure!
Best wishes
