I spent a few days at Victoria Falls (located on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia) in the early 90ís en route to Botswana. One morning I decided to walk down to the falls from my nearby hotel and take some early morning photos of the sun rising across the falls. This TL posting is one such photo.

The locals call the Victoria Falls ďThe Smoke That ThundersĒ. Anyone who has visited these magnificent falls will remember hearing them well before actually seeing them. They are LOUD! Like a constant roar, the ground practically moves below you as you approach them. They are in fact a geological fissure into which the Zambezi river falls from the Zimbabwean side. The opposite side is Zambia. Standing at the perimeter fence, all that stood between me and the rocks far below, I was entranced watching the powerful spray being whipped up and dramatically thrown upwards on the Zambian side. This heavy mist may be seen in my TL posting and through which I captured the rising sun.

A trip to Zimbabwe isnít complete without visiting the awesome Victoria Falls. But heed my advice...take a waterproof cover for both you AND your camera equipment. You seriously risk being absolutely drenched to the skin if the wind and rising mist suddenly changes direction towards you. I kid you not. :-)

Oh...and use plenty of mozzie repellent!

A beauty of a shot, but the horizon line is crooked! It sure can make a pic look different. I did a WS for you, hope you like it! A gorgeous place to be!
