Framed [1000th]

This is my 1000th post on TrekLens. On August 17th 2006, almost four years ago I posted my first picture now 1348 days later number thousand.

Thanks to all the critiques received in the past, I was able to improve the quality of my pictures (I think). Also many thanks for the help of all those TL members who did want to criticize my postings honestly, from a crooked horizon (sometimes even less than a half degree was observed ;-) to poor sharpness, unbalanced compositions and unnoticed dust bunnies. Anyway I'm happy to be here on TL despite the many struggles encountered during the time I'm active member.

Hopefully I can continue my stay here on TL for at least an other four years. Time will tell, but for now I'm not considering to quit.

Looking forward to all your honest critiques, now and in the future!

To "celebrate" this event I chose this picture which I took in Namibia, the Quiver tree trunk act here as frame for the view on the Nammib desert.

PP work: not much, shot in raw, converted to jpeg, adjusted levels, curves, brightness and contrast. Cropped, resized sharpened using USM and add frame.

Wow.... 1000 foto's!! Da's wel een felicitatie waard Hans.
Prachtig!

This is an interesting post Hans, with the two tree trunks framing the shot, and the two trees inside almost mirroring the balancing the shot ... with the small mountain in the distance also adding to the balance. Well done.
Congrats on 1000! Always interesting to look back and see the changes and improvements over time. Wishing you happy snapping for another 1000!! :)

Hi Hans,

Not sure if you used tree trunks or rock formations to frame the shot, but it worked well. The two distant trees then frame the mountain in the background. The combination of wide angle and small aperture have yielded excellent DOF, a beautiful scene.

Congratulations on your 1,000th post, that's quite an achievement. Hope you stick around TL for a long time too!

Best regards,
Werner

Congratulation for your beautiful 1000 post, very nice colors and framing.

Hoi Hans,

This is what I call extremely good photography.
Great composition with natural frame.
Depth of field is perfect.
Sharpness and light are also excellent and colors are very natural.

Congratulation for your 1000th post and I wish you many, many more wonderful photos posted on Treklens.

Warm greetings and best wishes,
Tatjana

Bonjour Hans

Bravo et surtout merci pour ces 1000 éditions!
Beau cadre naturel de cet arbre fendu qui nous conduit vers cette terre désertique;Les dessins géométriques du bois m'ont fait croire à première vue à une roche de type silex...
Belle présentation!
Bravo Hans!
Catherine

Hi Hans,

Wonderfull POV here, great texture of the rock and excellent composition.
The framing is beautitull and the colors and brigntess excellent.
Congratulations for the 1000th and my compliment for the excellent compositions you did you have done and wish you a great job again, for the future.
Have a nice week.
John

Hello HAns

I like the image. Very intersting study for such a barren desert. Good work using the tree as a frame. Nice work

jimmy

You did well here, Hans - most of that success is in the composition. The two trunks of the trees and the almost-mirror placement of the two trees in the middle distance give the viewer pause.

Nice that you didn't use post work too much here, the shadows remain in shadow giving darkness, coolness and depth to the shot.

Rew

neat shot, very well done, congrats on 1000! take care

Hi Hans,
This photo is a good choice to celebrate your 1000th! A photo can talk a lot in a second level. I want share with you what this one imspires me.
I see a window opened on the world, a mind opened on the improvement, a state of spirit based on sharing. The passage to darkness to light is a good symbol too.
The balance in the composition is also the attitude you kept with TL members since your beginning on TL.
Thanks for the help you give me and congratulations for your achievement!

Congrats on your 1000th post on TrekLens, Hansie. WOW and BRAVO!!!

I do like your well set out composition - it makes me think of a stage, with the curtains just opening on a barren scene.

It is good, and those 2 trees are perfectly placed - "well staged'

Little did you think 4 years ago just what and who you would meet through TL when you joined.

So good to know you MF
Janice

Congratulations on your milestone Hans.

The framing using the tree trunks is great and I amazed at the detail in the wood.

You have also achieved a well balanced DOF throughout the shot.

Hi Hans,
Congratulations on your milestone. This is a super shot. may be the narual frame from the rocks could be a bit less thick, but still I like it. Overall brown and blue color combination works well.

Best wishes for your next 1000 posts.

CONGRATULATIONS!! What an accomplishment Hansie! This is SUPER sharp, really nice view! The two trees are really cool here, they ALSO frame the shot in their own way! I appreciate all your hard work on TL...I plan to stay also. I would rather be told the truth than to be patronized by so-called "friends"....I want to learn!

For me I believe you had given me excelents photos . You are in TL much time than I have a camera. I wish you all the best in photos and life and I hope to share your photos all the time you give.

Very well framed this composition. I love the textures of fg. I had the feeling that the narrow window you made tell us that the world is much more bigger and beautiful . We must fly with mind. The horizont far way has great elements and beauty.

Um abraço

Hi Hans
Congrats for the amazing mark of «1000».
The image as usual is perfect, with a fantastic light and detail, very well balanced in the light zones and in the darker zones. I love the perspective you adopted giving us the felling that we're coming in a... completely new world. Congrats and regards, mb

Hello Hans !

Congratulations for your milestone shot. It seems it was yesterday , I started to write to another ''newcomer''. From Day one, you really became addicted to the site proposing excellent works. The quality of your shots became easily recognisable.

Hats off to you. You are indeed a lucky man to have so many opportunities to travel and capture so many great landscapes, people and places. But you are not just lucky , you are good (^_^). You are a talented photographer and a great ambassador for the site.

Keep on the great work.

Robert

PS. The split tree looks like you took the photo from a fracture of a cliff. Specially when I look at the rocks on the ground.

Hee die Hans,
Tsjonge joh ! 1000 stuks. En dan al die foto's die je NIET geplaatst hebt ! ;-)
Ook deze 1000e is weer prachtig. Super stukje natuur, mooi geframed door de natuur zelf.
Nou, op naar de volgende 1000.
groet,
Joop!

Hoi hans, Gefeliciteerd met je 1000ste foto. Prachtig, deze foto. Mooie POV, kleuren en structuren. Afrika staat ook nog op mijn lijstje. Lieve groetjes van es

Wooow, my friend Hans, this post is one of the most impressive shots I've ever seen.
The rocks look so unreal, like from another earth - looking outside to our own world, it's amazing and I congratulate you for this fascinating one.
The light and the colours are excellent, thanks, I love it.

Wat een scherpte voor en achter en wat een details in het hout!
En wat een verschil met je eerste foto....:)
