[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In 1908 Luderitz was plunged into diamond fever and people rushed into the desert for an easy fortune.Within two years a complete town with casino, school and exclusive residential buildings.Over one thousand KG of diamonds were extracted before WW1.The diamonds diminished after the war and larger stones were discovered near Oranjemund causing Kolmanskop to become a ghost town. All the remaining buildings are now partially or full of sand.
Scanned from an old slide and converted to black & white.
