|My entry for this weeks theme of solitude. Meerkats are mostly seen in groups but more so in large families.This seemingly solitary one is serving as a lookout post. A sharp shrill call is a signal for all to duck for cover. They will eat insects, lizards, birds and fruit.|

I have doubt about the appropriateness of the image to the theme for last friday, but I must tell you that this is a photo of great quality and visual impact.
