Beautiful vivid and vibrant colours, love the wide crop and the composition.

I like this image a lot, very good lighting, simple but good composition and the tone is beautiful.
The textures stand out very nicely, the details have come out pretty well.
I'm not fond of guns myself but don't mind them, and I have had one pointed at my face. I've also had a knife pointed at my eye, that hasn't made me dislike knives.
It's all how you use them and what context they're in. Fortunately some people will never see a gun in their lives, wont ever need one. One would expect some sort of understanding from them, that there are places in the world where not having one could mean losing your life or being robbed, kidnapped, etc..
It's a shame the world isn't a sugar coated candy land, and certain things no matter how displeasing are a necessity to sustain oneself in that society/location.
I think people would understand if you told them you needed the gun to protect your lenses and your cameras. From me and other hooligans out to get your gear. It's for the love of photography, and trekking.

Sometimes an extreme closeup can look very good, or if you zoom out and show more of the place surrounding the person. Sharing the environment or a much more intimate view of the individual makes images much more interesting.
Maybe have 2-4 people in the picture, all busy doing whatever they are, not aware or ignoring your presence.
Maybe if you go to iso 400-800 and get some of the ambient room light. That will give interesting results.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your D70 pictures.

He looks a little shocked, a very nice picture. I think it could be even better if there was more of him in it. Maybe where he is sitting, what he is surrounded by, to give us more context.
The context would then tell us more about the person, maybe a picture of him doing something he likes, and not knowing there's a picture of him being taken.
I think you could have compensated for the flash more, maybe f/8 or even f/11 would darken the area around him nicely to give it more atmosphere.
Thanks for sharing and congratulations for the D70. I like using canon cameras, and feel it's a matter of taste, what you are comfortable with using. That is the only difference between Nikon and Canon cameras. They are both fine cameras and great systems that allow you to enjoy making pictures the way you want to make them.

Beautiful picture, two very sweet and mischievous looking children.
I like how the flash brings our attention straight to the face, but I think it needed a little big of flash exposure compensation, maybe flash bracketing, 1/2 a stop for it to be more subtle.
Very nice composition with good looking background blur.
Thank you for sharing.
I like what she's wearing, it could look very good with some side light coming from a window in the late afternoon or early morning.

A very powerful image, implies how bad the situation has gotten.
Very strong mood and shows your usual graphical flair.

Very interesting and attractive composition, the light is just right for this one, giving it a nice old photo quality.
Nice, graphic looking image, the water drops on the left makes this picture.
Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful picture, great light, a strong composition and a good moment.
The image has gone past natural looking colours, but the look/style still works for me.
